Confine small workplace emergencies (Fire Extinguishers)

Course Overview: This Unit of Competency, is designed to help employers, Main contractors & Self employed persons meet their legal requirements to train employees and alike in the use of Fire Extinguishers, fire blankets and small hazardous material incidents.

This requirement is set out in the OHS regulations 1996 Part 3 division 1 regulation 3.9 & MSI Regulations 1995 Part 4 Division 3 regulation 4.30, 2, V.

During this course Students will learn how to deal with small workplace emergencies, this involves extinguishing small fires where they demonstrate the practical use and correct techniques of portable fire protection products. They will learn how to deal with small hazardous material incidents, how to make the scene safe after the emergency. They will also be provided with the knowledge of how to deal with a casualty whilst maintaining your own safety at all times.

This Course is recommended for: Employees, Employers, Self Employed and Main Contractors who work with, amongst or around Portable fire fighting equipment and or Hazardous Materials.

Assessment: Completion of a Summative written assessment and practical observations are to be completed by each participant.

Certification: Upon successful completion of PUAWER008A Confine small work place emergencies participants will receive a certificate of attainment.
